This standard specifies the test methods for obtaining characteristic values for tightening threaded fasteners (hereinafter referred to as “tightening characteristic value”) in the combinations of bolt and nut.

This standard is applicable to bolts, machine screws and studs (hereinafter referred to as “bolts”) and the nuts with general-purpose metric screw threads with nominal diameters (d) from 3 to 39mm; and also applicable to the combination of other externally and internally threaded fasteners with the same basic profiles as those of general-purpose metric screw threads. However, this standard is not applicable to the set screws and similar threaded fasteners which are not under tensile stresses, screws which form their own mating thread nor to threaded fasteners having additional self-locking features.

Remark : This standard is derived from JIS B 1084 ; thus, containing the same provisions as those of JIS B 1084 with partial changes and additions.
